Spotify in 432 Hz?
Spotify cannot do it. Your computer can.
A request has been sitting in the Spotify community for years with 188 votes: a setting for tuning. It has never been granted, and nothing suggests that is about to change. But you do not need it. The sound can be retuned on its way between Spotify and your speakers — Spotify notices nothing, because nothing about Spotify is changed.
Why this is not a trick: No more than an equaliser or a volume control changes anything about Spotify, the Tuner does. It sits in the system audio — at the point the sound passes anyway on its way to the speakers. No file is touched, no copy made, nothing circumvented.
What works and what does not
Spotify plays as usual. The sound goes through the IYAMBAE Tuner, and 432 comes out of the speakers. It applies to everything at once — Spotify, YouTube, Netflix, your own player. One switch, not a thousand conversions.
What Spotify stores offline is encrypted. It is not a music file that happens to sit elsewhere — it cannot be read outside the app at all. No converter in the world gets at it, ours included. That is not a weakness of some software, that is the deal: you rent, you do not buy.
Technically conceivable, legally not: circumventing copy protection is separately regulated, and we do not help with it. It would also be the worse way — a great deal of work for a result that starts over with every new track.
Android and iPhone let no app at another app’s sound. That is not a question of effort, that is a wall in the operating system — and it holds for every provider, not just for us. On the phone you still have the radio in your browser, where the retuning happens in the page itself.
What else gets asked
Does the music get slower?
No. There are two ways to make something sound lower: play it slower — then pitch and tempo move — or shift only the pitch. The Tuner does the second. The tempo stays at 100 per cent, wherever you drag the slider.
Am I breaking the terms of use?
As we understand it, no: nothing is copied, nothing decrypted, nothing passed on. What is changed is the sound already coming out of your speakers — just as any equaliser does. We are not legal advisers, though, and terms can change.
And the sound quality?
Nothing is re-compressed. The sound is computed once, on its way to the speaker — no file comes into being that would be made lossy a second time. How exactly that works is under sample rate and pitch.
How do I know it works?
Listen for yourself, blind: in the listening test you get the same passage twice, tuned differently, and you guess. Five trials, honest scoring — even when the result goes against us.
